Sandra C Monette is a member of the Wahta Mohawk First Nation who grew up in Toronto, Ontario. Sandra grew up loving to explore and learn new things.  She expanded her general knowledge in school, community groups and making friends.

She learned sewing techniques at home and school. During the mass evacuation in 1979 in Mississauga Sandra taught herself how to crochet. In 1998 Sandra learned how to bead from her sister Pat who is an excellent crafts woman. Sandra was inspired by family, school, community and a varied cultural group of friends. Sandra creates with sewing machine and fabric, crocheted hooks and yarn, beading supplies, paint and canvas,and general arts and crafts.
