Anishnaabeg - Treaty 9

My name is Paskale Malette, I am a Anishnaabeg artist residing on Treaty 9. In 2020, I had the honour of being taught how to create a beautiful pair of beaded earrings. A needle, some thread and colorful beads... and many knots at first!

However, my teacher was patient, kind and encouraging, and did not allow me to give up on my journey towards this part of my identity. With every creation, my teacher praised my work and my growth. And now, here ai am... Completey in love with creating jewelry that people can wear proudly to demonstrate their indigenous pride or allyship. When beading, I am reminded of my people's history and resilience. All my pieces are created with intentions of love, respect, courage, honesty, wisdom, humility and truth.
