My name is Ashley Flynn, I am a member of the Miꞌkmaq First Nation of Newfoundland. My beading is rooted in traditional beading techniques but also some of my work includes leather with modern flair. Using the small scrap leather and fur pieces in my art is rooted in the tradition to respect and use all of what I take from the earth to honour its spirit.
I believe in intentionality and I have a mixed background, rooted in my Mi'kmaq Grandmother who shared a love for nature and a strong connection to oral tradition. However, I grew up in Algonquin territory.
