Workshops Non Profit Organizations

feather bundle workshops, pass the feather, smudge feathers, non-profitAre you a non profit organization? Part of a First Nations community effort to support and teach tradition? We’ve got to stick together. Let’s do workshops for non profit organizations!

We have been approached my many organizations to hold these Feather Bundle workshops however, as not-for-profits we all struggle to find funding to support our movements. We believe that workshops non profit organizations matter.

The AACC would like to offer these workshops free of charge to any FNMI non profit organization or community that assists community members, Elders, chidren, survivors of abuse, survivors of the residential school system, survivors of the apprehension of children by social services (coined 60’s Scoop), displaced individuals and individuals that need assistance with recovery from drug dependences.

If you participate or work with a group of individuals that is in need of workshops like ours, we’d like to hear from you.

Funding does exist for programs like this but we would need your help to access the funds.

Please consider filling out the form below or writing a short letter (see example below) that expresses your need for Pass The Feather workshops. Explain briefly your financial needs (you are a non-profit, you’re a youth worker, you’re a teacher, a volunteer, a therapist, etc.) and that your group would benefit from such workshops.

We will compile these letters and they will be included in our grant application. When we hear the decision, we will contact you to arrange your free workshop.

We believe that programming like this should be available to our First Nations, Métis and Inuit community members and we are ready to do the work to make that happen.

Good medicines and sharing circles are important tools to recovery and health.

We hope you will help us to help each other.

To whom it may concern,

As the director (your name) of (organization name), we would like to express our need for cultural workshops facilitated by the Aboriginal Arts Collective of Canada (Pass the Feather).

Feather Bundle workshops are rare and we understand that Dawn Setford of AACC is the only First Nations individual offering the materials and instruction for these workshops.

(Your organization name) is a (non-profit or community program) that provides a range of programs and services to First Nations, Inuit and Métis women, men and children who are in need of guidance, cultural activity and learning, survivors of domestic and other forms of violence, or who are suffering the effects of the residential school system or foster care.

As a not-for-profit, we are in need of resources like this but our clients are not in a position to afford the materials to complete the workshop nor do we have excess funding to allocate to art and culture programming.

Please consider that organizations like ours would appreciate your consideration in financing AACC so that they may continue to provide art and culture workshops to those in need of guidance.

Kindest regards,
