Donnel Taylor | Ottawa Painter

Walking Elgin Street, Ottawa, an old Native man sat on the sidewalk. I sat to talk with him a while.

donnell taylor, first nations artist, pass the feather, artist directoryHe’s in recovery. Painting keeps him in recovery.

He taught me about Creator and the 7 Grandfathers. He told me, “when you drink or use, you are taking yourself farther and farther from Creator.”

He told me many things that night and then again the next day when I met him at MMIW vigil on Parliament Hill.

I will treasure my painting forever. Go see him. #‎passthefeather to Donnell Taylor.
